In Another Lifetime

In Another Lifetime is an immersive exhibition that transforms the MA&C gallery into a lived-in, home-like environment. The exhibition explores the tenderness and complexity of the human experience through the everyday spaces we inhabit and the memories we preserve within them.

At its heart, this exhibition reflects on fleeting moments, quiet, almost forgettable at first, that ultimately shape who we are. These are not grand milestones but intimate, universal experiences: the first glance of recognition, a note saved on the fridge, a birthday celebration shared among family. Simple moments that feel cinematic because of the emotional imprints they leave behind. The artworks themselves will echo this theme of memory. Some will be direct reflections of these intimate milestones, while others will take the form of objects we live with, handmade furniture, jewelry, and decorative pieces that belong naturally in a home. By blurring the line between fine art and domestic objects, the exhibition underscores how memory lives both in what we keep and in the spaces we shape.

The gallery will be staged like a home, with sectioned-off rooms: a bedroom with a bed, a hallway with a coat rack, and a living room with a mantel and coffee table. Artworks will not only hang on walls but rest on shelves, nestle into vintage frames, or sit among curated keepsakes. Visitors will encounter photo albums, scrapbooks, and personal objects that invite them to pause, reflect, and connect. In this way, the exhibition becomes not just a place to view art, but to feel at home in memory itself.

In Another Lifetime invites visitors to see themselves within the work, to recall their own fleeting yet formative moments, and to consider the objects they choose to hold onto as extensions of memory. Even the pricing of works will echo this immersive concept, presented in a scrapbook rather than on traditional labels. Guests will leave with more than artwork; they will leave with the reminder that art enhances our homes in the same way memory enriches our lives.
